February

The summer months are upon us, which means the return of sticky, sweaty nights. And while most people have no problem enjoying a cool glass of lemonade on the porch during the day, once the sun sets, it becomes close to unbearable to stay outside without freezing your buns off.

Your HVAC system will become your best friend during this time, and the last thing you want is to have issues with your AC and die from the heat. Here we give you a list of possible and common air conditioning problems you can face. If your AC is not working, start searching “HVAC near me."

#1: AC Making Too Much Noise

Noise levels are usually not an issue when you hire a contractor to install an AC in your home. However, when the unit starts to squeak and rattle during its regular operation, you know that something is up.

There could be several reasons for this malfunction, from simple wear and tear to blocked vents. If your AC is not working, the best way to solve this problem would be to call professional help.

#2: Low Refrigerant, Or “Not Enough Cool Air"

What happens when your AC turns on but there is still no cold air? Several reasons can cause this type of problem. Your AC may have low refrigerant, and you need to add more coolant to the system.

Another possibility would be that the thermostat switch got moved to the hot position. But, if you’re sure that everything is in order with your AC unit yet still has no cool air coming out of it, then it’s time to call an expert.

#3: Dirty Condenser Coils

The condenser coils are responsible for transferring heat from the coolant to the outdoors. If these coils become clogged with dirt and dust, your AC unit will have a harder time getting rid of the heat. This means that you may need to clean them more frequently to shorten their lifespan.

#4: Frozen Evaporator Coils

Is there a better way to ruin your day than to wake up and find out that your air conditioning unit is frozen? If this happens, it means that the evaporator coils got too cold and ice formed on them. Unfortunately, such problems can be very difficult to resolve without professional help. You will probably need AC repairing at some point.

#5: Fan Issues

If you have a central AC unit, the fan distributes cool air throughout your house. This means that if your system’s fan is not turned on, then no one will be comfortable in your home until it gets fixed.

All these problems should be addressed as soon as they appear; otherwise, you could end up with a much larger problem. If it’s an AC repair you need, all you have to do is contact your local HVAC contractor.
